Ministries


 Evangelism Ministry
This ministry is a group of men, women, boys and girls who have answered the call of God to reach the lost for Christ.   All are not Preachers, Evangelists or Missionaries, but they go out into the hedges and byways, or to the streets, jails, hospitals, nursing homes, etc., or wherever the spirit of God leads them to take the message of salvation in Jesus Christ to the lost.
 
 Men’s Ministry
This ministry is for all the men of the church 18 years and older where males can fellowship and discuss issues and concerns that are specific to Christian men and their roles in life, family, the Church and community.  This ministry is designed to help build Christian character in all of our males and provide mentoring for the young men and to have men under-gird the whole program of the Church.
 
Women’s Ministry
This ministry is for all women 18 years and older where females can fellowship and dialogue about issues and concerns that are specific to Christian women and their roles in life, family, the Church and community.  This ministry is designed to help build Christian character in all of our women and provide mentoring for the young women and to have women involved in the total program of the Church.
 
Married Couples Ministry
This ministry is for all married couples and individuals whose spouses don’t attend #2 NMS.  The purpose of this group is to give married people a place to come and fellowship with other married Christians.  This group will offer support and encouragement to newlyweds and to those who have been married for a while.  This ministry will be a place for married people to come and network with each other and find answers in the Word of God to issues that have or will confront married couples.
 
Singles Women's Ministry
This ministry is for all single, widowed, and divorced female members of the Church. The purpose of this ministry will be to help single Christians deal with issues that confront singles every day based on the teaching of the Word of God.  Also, to encourage and offer support to each other to live as God has ordained.
 
Youth Ministry
This ministry is for all of our youth ages 13-20.  The purpose of this ministry will be to train our youth how to live as Christians, using what they have to help those in need, effective witnessing and sharing the gospel with family/peers, how to enjoy mixed company as Christians, abstinence (sex, drugs, alcohol, crime, personal abuse), special training in personal care and appearance, special training in youth involvement in all worship services and the performance of special tasks specific to the ongoing of worship, and  in/outreach programs.
 
Whole Life Ministry
This ministry is for the benefit of all members of NMS and the community at large.  This purpose of this ministry will be to provide assistance in a variety of areas from job finding, training, interview preparation, resume writing, resource information for medical care, education, housing, substance abuse referrals, senior issues, child care, transportation information.
  
Children’s Ministry
This ministry is for all of our children ages 3-12.   The purpose of this ministry is to train our children how to live as Christians, how to share the gospel with family/peers, how to enjoy others, sharing and having fun as Christian children,  training in personal care and appearance, and special training for children in worship service.
 
Iron Sharpening Iron Ministry (ISI)
This ministry is for any member or non-member of #2 NMS who is or has struggled with alcohol or drug abuse or any other addictive behavior.  The purpose of this ministry is to assist people or family member of persons struggling with this destructive spirit through prayer and gospel based 12 step counseling.
 
Shepherd’s Ministry
This ministry is a specific group of individuals who have answered the call of God in caring for the Pastor and his family. They provide care and assistance in a variety of ways and in leading the congregation in programs planned for the support of the pastor and his family.
 
Praise Dance Ministry
This is a group of individuals who worship God in dance.  These individuals dance in selected services. 
 
Youth Drill Team Ministry
This ministry is for all youth and young adults ages 11-21.  The purpose of the ministry is to edify our youth and young adults through participation in a drill and step team. The team will provide an opportunity for our young people to enhance their knowledge of our Christian doctrine and have fun.
 
Prayer Ministry
This ministry is a group of individuals who have responded to God’s call to pray and war in the spirit for the body of Christ; our families and communities; the unsaved; and this sin-sick world.  The ministry accomplishes its purposes through specific training, fasting, individual prayers, collectively praying as teams on daily prayer lines, and corporately praying with other members of #2 NMS. Trained prayer warriors are also responsible for:  a) calling and visiting the sick and bereaved members to pray for them; b) sending them cards on behalf of the church; c) and being visibly present to pray for members at the Wednesday prayer meeting.
 
Missionary Society
The Missionary Society is responsible for carrying the Gospel to the community and to the world, and to stimulate a missionary spirit among the membership of #2  New Mt. Sinai M. B. Church: that all men may come to know Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
 
Each member of the church is automatically a member of the missionary society and is encouraged to support the Missionary Society, personally and financially, and support he missionary tasks of the church
 
Beautifying Club
The Beautifying Club is responsible for beautifying the church; to help maintain an attractive, clean, and comfortable physical setting for the worship of God.  This group also makes special arrangements and decorations for annual days and anniversaries.
 

Church School (Sunday School)
The Church School is the Church in Bible study.  It is designed to equip members with a foundation in the Word of God. All members are encouraged to regularly attend Church School.
 
 Usher Board
The Usher Board has the responsibility of seating members and visitors, and maintaining orderly and uninterrupted services.
 
 First Aid Nurses
The purpose of the First Aid Nurses is to provide comfort necessities to the Pastor and medical care and first aid assistance for members and visitors.
 

 Brotherhood
The purpose of the Brotherhood Union is to enlist, enlighten, and activate the manpower in the church for the Lord.  The Brotherhood Union seeks to train men to do a better job through dedication and knowledge.  All men are invited and encouraged to become members of the Brotherhood Union.
 
Mother Board (Senior Women)
The Mother Board shall consist of the Senior Women of the Church; many are wives of ministers and deacons.  The Mother Board shall assist the deacons in devotional and prayer service, and assist with attending to the communion table.

 Choir (Music Department)
The choirs are responsible for rendering the song service during the Sunday Morning worship service and at all other special programs.  There are four choirs: E &W Choir; Junior Choir; Youth Choir; and Male Chorus.
 
    Praise Team
This group of individuals under the Holy Spirit leads the congregation into true worship to our God.             

 Trustee Board
The Trustee Board shall be responsible for the administration of the business affairs of the church as assigned by the church, pastor and/or deacon board.  It shall keep an accurate record of all church properties (real and personal), pay all lawful bills that shall be due, upon orders from the church, pastor, and/or deacon board, and keep all records of all business affairs of the church – providing reports as required in church business meetings and in Deacon Board meetings. The Trustee Board shall be solely responsible for signing contracts and legal documents upon the order of the church and shall secure church paper and titles. 
 
 Deacon Board
The Deacon Board shall assist in carrying forth the regular and special worship services, and shall do any and all other duties to which they may be assigned by the pastor, chairman of the Deacon Board, and/or the church, and all duties that are ordinary to deaconship within a Baptist church and according to the Baptist Standard Church Directory and the Standard Baptist Guide, which shall include but not be limited to the following:
 
 Kitchen Committee
The Kitchen Committee shall supervise the activities and use of the kitchen and give leadership to special church fellowship and social functions that include Fellowship Dinners, repasts, etc.
 
 
 New Members Committee and Welcome Committee
The Welcome Committee shall be responsible for greeting and welcoming all attendees at our services (members and visitors), orienting new members by helping them in their assimilation into the #2 New Mt. Sinai Church family.
